Not to sound all parasocial, but do you ever see a celebrity’s face and realize how much you miss seeing them on red carpets, in movies, or on stage? Well, I just experienced that with Brie Larson and did what anyone in my situation would do: fall down a rabbit hole to find any new info on her. Like…is she going to be in Avengers: Doomsday? (Maybe.) Or is she dating anyone? (Yes, after throwing a breakup party to celebrate her single era.)
It turns out she’s quietly been in a relationship for a little more than two years! And if you’re like, Huh? With who?, as I was about an hour ago, allow me to drop all the details on her low-key man, Benjamin Styer.
Benjamin is an artist
According to his portfolio’s website, Benjamin is a self-taught painter from western Massachusetts. He also opened up about what drew him to painting during a rare interview in 2023.
“I have a pretty long relationship with painting,” he told Kinstler, with whom he released a puzzle featuring his original artwork. “As a child, I was drawn to the art in children’s books. Monet was a person I looked up to at age five. I soon aspired to paint hyper-real and couldn’t. In high school, I had a burst of painting for three years after discovering Basquiat.”
It wasn’t until he was 27 that he “decided to completely devote” his time to painting.
He’s low-key, but surprisingly has an online presence
While Ben is largely out of the spotlight, he still has 59K Instagram followers. He mainly uses the platform to showcase his artwork and promote upcoming exhibitions and appearances. So…you won’t find any soft launches here if you’re looking!
He’s also a musician
In that aforementioned interview with Kinstler, Benjamin revealed that he “switched between songwriting and painting” through the years.
“I feel like I want to be making music. That’s part of my process in painting—wishing there was an alchemy involved where it could be music instead,” he said at the time. “I don’t know if I technically have synesthesia, but I do have visual impulses to music that I follow in my painting process. The two are wrapped up in a mystery I like to pretend is solvable in my art.”
He also displayed his “Little Music Box Stories” exhibit at Shrine NYC in 2025, which was partly inspired by his love for music.
Brie and Benjamin have been quietly linked since 2024
Benjamin first sparked dating rumors with Brie in January 2024, when they were spotted looking “smitten” at Kate Berlant’s one-woman play Kate! at the Pasadena Playhouse. According to photos obtained by the Daily Mail, Brie and Ben “kissed one another as their friends chatted around them before getting into a car together.”
At the time, another source told People that they “arrived and left together,” adding, “They met up with friends and hung out in a group. Brie looked happy. Her relationship with Benjamin is newish. They were affectionate and cute.”
They seemingly keep their relationship out of the public eye, since there have been no additional reports of sightings or a potential split.
Glad we’re all caught up now!
