The Lake Tahoe estate features eight en-suite bedrooms, private balconies, dual bathrooms, a sun deck and coffee bar.
Some luxury homes are defined by what they offer. Others stand out for what they leave untouched. At Mike Love’s sprawling Lake Tahoe retreat, the appeal extends beyond the sweeping Sierra Nevada views, expansive glass walls and private leisure spaces.
The Beach Boys co-founder has also taken steps to preserve the natural landscape surrounding his home, placing six additional acres under conservation protection to guard against future development. Now, nearly three decades after the property was built, the estate is entering a new chapter, with a $43 million asking price, states an online report by People.
A retreat shaped by its surroundings
If we go by the exclusive report by People, Love, 85, built the three-storey residence in 1997 on a 2.5-acre plot in Incline Village, Nevada, near Lake Tahoe’s northeastern shore.
He and his wife, Jacquelyne Piesen, spent more than four decades at the property, which became a private retreat for their family and a setting for much of the musician’s creative work. And according to Morning Star report, the home’s connection to its surroundings is evident in its construction, with stone sourced directly from the property incorporated throughout the residence. Beyond the main grounds, the couple also worked with organisations including the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency and the University of California, Davis, on efforts to protect the lake’s water quality and natural environment.
The decision to place six neighbouring acres under conservation protection further reflects that commitment, preserving surrounding pine trees and wildlife from development, states People report.
Inside the $43 million estate
The property, listed in April 2026, offers 10 bedrooms, 12 full bathrooms and three half-bathrooms. Its main living area centres on a generous great room, where floor-to-ceiling glass and retractable doors open onto a terrace overlooking the lake, adds the online report. The kitchen and dining spaces are similarly oriented towards the water, making the views an integral part of everyday living rather than a backdrop reserved for special occasions.Eight en-suite bedrooms are spread across three floors, with several featuring private balconies. The primary suite occupies a separate wing, offering two bathrooms, a soaking tub, a steam room, a sun deck and a private coffee bar, explains the online report too.Outside, the amenities are designed for both entertaining and family life. A swimming pool and 10-person hot tub sit alongside a custom trampoline and playground, while the upper lawn has also accommodated a temporary ice-skating rink. With Love’s eight children now grown up, the family has decided to put the long-held residence on the market. The listing is being handled by Jeannette Harpole of Keller Williams Everett, adds the report.
A longstanding environmental commitment
As per Morning Star, Love’s interest in conservation extends beyond his private property. In 2012, he attended the dedication of Lake Tahoe’s first highway roundabout, a $2.4 million project intended to improve road safety while helping protect the lake’s renowned clarity and incorporating local public art, claims the online report.Environmental awareness has also surfaced in his musical work. The Beach Boys’ song Don’t Go Near the Water addressed pollution and the need to treat the natural world with greater care, adds People report. As the Incline Village estate seeks a new owner, its conservation measures remain a distinctive part of its story. The $43 million property offers considerable luxury, but its lasting appeal may lie just as much in the landscape that has deliberately been kept free from further construction.Images Courtesy: Facebook and Reddit
