The Boston Bruins (5-2-0) are looking to keep their win streak alive as they face the Anaheim Ducks (4-2-0) in the first leg of a back-to-back later tonight. The Bruins have won their last three games by a combined score of 17-5, including a 6-3 win in San Jose to open their four-game road trip.
The Bruins did not shake things up at practice on Thursday. The forward lines have been together since the start of the Bruins’ win streak, while the defense pairings came together on Monday with Charlie McAvoy’s return.
McAvoy, in his first game back, jumped right into the mix. He led the Bruins in ice time, logging minutes on both the power play and penalty kill, and added a goal. After practice on Monday, Marco Sturm said that offense from the blue line is “a piece that was a little bit missing in the past.”

The Ducks beat the Bruins four days later in Boston, 4-3 in overtime, which started the active streak.
Hampus Lindholm spent the first nine seasons of his NHL career in Anaheim before a March 2022 trade to Boston. After practice on Thursday, he said it’s the first time he’s been able to spend a little time in his old home, “But I’m here to work. I’m here to get two points.”
Assistant coach Matt McIlvane worked in the Anaheim Ducks organization before joining the Bruins this summer. He was the head coach of the San Diego Gulls from 2023-26, and nine players in the Ducks’ expected lineup spent time playing for McIlvane in San Diego.
