By Zoila Palma: Members of Belize’s security forces completed a 50-mile relay run from Belmopan to Belize City on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, to raise funds for the Belize Police Department’s participation in the World Police Games 2026 in the Dominican Republic.
The relay began in front of the Ministry of Home Affairs building in Belmopan and ended in front of the Queen Street Police Station in Belize City.
Members of the Belize Police Department, Belize Coast Guard, and Belize Defence Force participated in the initiative.
The Belize Police Department’s team is scheduled to compete in the games from October 26 to 30, representing the country in several sporting disciplines, including swimming, basketball, the 10K run, and judo.
Funds raised through the relay will help cover expenses associated with the team’s participation.
