Zagreb is expanding its traffic surveillance system to 219 locations, with new cameras set to begin monitoring illegally stopped and parked vehicles on 16 October.
ZAGREB, 15 October 2026 – Zagreb is expanding its traffic surveillance system with 39 new camera locations aimed at tackling illegal stopping and parking on city streets.
The new cameras will begin operating on Friday, 16 October, bringing the total number of locations monitored across the Croatian capital to 219, an increase of more than 20%.
The City of Zagreb said the expansion aims to improve road safety, ease traffic congestion and ensure smoother movement for public transport and other road users.
The new locations were selected following an analysis of traffic conditions, frequent reports from residents, repeated on-site interventions and persistent violations of traffic regulations.
The city said these problems represent a significant traffic management challenge.
Where will the new cameras be installed?
The 39 new camera locations cover various parts of Zagreb, including the city centre, residential neighbourhoods and major roads.
They include Savska–Prisavlje, Selska–Zagorska, Draškovićeva–Boškovićeva, Varšavska–Gundulićeva, Ilica–Gundulićeva, Gajeva–Teslina and Vlaška–Šoštarića.
Additional locations include the area around the Remete cemetery and crematorium, Gračanska cesta near the cable car, Podsusedski trg, Radnička cesta, Zagrebačka cesta, Horvaćanska cesta and several locations in Malešnica, Špansko, Dubrava and Jelkovečka.
The full list of new camera locations is provided below.
How the traffic camera system works
The system is fully digital and monitored by the city’s traffic wardens from a central control centre.
Cameras record and store photographs of vehicles detected illegally stopping or parking. The city said all monitored locations, including the newly added sites, are marked with signs informing drivers that they are entering an area under video surveillance.
The expansion builds on the existing network, which previously covered 180 locations across Zagreb.
The city has urged drivers to comply with traffic regulations, saying the measures are intended to improve safety for all road users, maintain traffic flow and help public transport operate more efficiently.
