Erling Haaland struck twice as defiant Manchester City marched on at the top of the Premier League by holding on for a 3-2 win over Ipswich on Saturday.
Phil Foden was also on target at the Etihad Stadium but City needed to survive a nervy finish after a Zian Flemming penalty gave the visitors late hope.
It was City's second successive league victory since the club were found guilty of serious breaches of the competition's financial regulations last month.
It also maintained their 100% start to the campaign under new manager Enzo Maresca and lifted them six points clear of champions Arsenal at the top of the table.
Promoted Ipswich rallied to cancel out Foden's opener through Daizen Maeda but Haaland's double, taking his tally for the campaign to 12 in all competitions, looked to have reasserted City's authority.
The Norwegian was denied a hat-trick by VAR, and the game ended in frantic fashion, but City had done enough.
Alexander Isak marked his return from injury with the winner as Liverpool came from behind to beat nine-man Brentford 2-1.
The Reds were misfiring as they trailed to Keane Lewis-Potter's first-half goal, but the match turned on a needless red card for Brentford's Yehor Yarmoliuk on the stroke of half-time.
Victor Munoz hauled Liverpool level after the break before Isak struck with his fifth goal of the season.
Brentford then lost Vitaly Janelt to second yellow card in stoppage time.
Swedish striker Isak had missed the previous two matches but was able start alongside Florian Wirtz and recent signing Bradley Barcola, who had an assist each, in a £350 million ($466 million) frontline.
Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso was awaiting news of Emiliano Martinez's injury after the goalkeeper went to hospital following a clash of heads in the 2-0 victory at Everton.
Pedro Neto scored at the beginning and end of the second half for his first Premier League double which also helped secure Chelsea's first top-flight clean sheet since January.
Martinez collided with Jarrad Branthwaite as the pair challenged for a cross and after more than eight minutes of treatment the Argentina international was carried off on a stretcher to a waiting ambulance.
"What we know is he left the stadium conscious and right now he is in the hospital doing precautionary tests," said Alonso.
"It was concussion but more than that I saw only one clip. Hopefully it won't be too bad but we need to wait."
Fulham's winless run under Alvaro Arbeloa was finally ended by an entertaining 1-0 victory over Hull at Craven Cottage.
Alex Iwobi struck the winner in the 33rd minute to lift the home side off the foot of the Premier League table and out of the bottom three, though goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis will wonder how he ever let the shot spill through him.
Johan Manzambi scored the only goal of the game as Aston Villa clinched a 1-0 win over Newcastle at St James' Park.
An end-to-end first half saw the visitors go ahead through Manzambi, who had looked set to join the Magpies over the summer before Villa swooped in to sign him.
Newcastle had opportunities to level through Sven Botman and Yoane Wissa after the break, but Manzambi's header proved to be the difference and takes his tally to two Premier League goals this season.
