Hundreds of ultra-Orthodox (haredi) children from Breslov schools have been brought to protest outside Military Prison 10 following the arrest of draft dodgers at Ben-Gurion Airport, KAN News reported on Monday, despite an Education Ministry ruling prohibiting such things from occurring.
"Students are prohibited from participating in political demonstrations or demonstrations of any other kind during school hours," the directive reads, according to KAN. "In particular, principals and teachers are prohibited from organizing or leading demonstrations. Parents or any other party must not be permitted to cancel classes."
KAN reported that school administrators organized the students' participation, sending buses to pick them up and bring them to Prison 10.
"Using students to participate in political demonstrations as part of school activities is improper and prohibited," KAN cited the Education Ministry as saying. "The Haredim have been instructed to take the strictest possible action against this phenomenon."
"The allegations raised are being examined with supervisory officials, and if any violations of procedures are found, the matter will be handled accordingly."
Footage circulating on social media appears to show a teacher reading out the names of the arrested draft dodgers, having the students repeat each one after him.
Four arrested in mass haredi protest last week
This protest follows a mass haredi protest against the draft dodger arrests that sparked across Jerusalem and Highway 4 on Thursday.
Four protesters were arrested during the demonstrations, one in Jerusalem and three for assaulting officers on Highway 4.
