Overview:
‘Jailer 2’ reportedly led ‘Ranabaali’ in early US Telugu-version premiere advance bookings.
‘Ranabaali’ subsequently crossed USD 100,000 in reported North American advance bookings.
Audience turnout, reviews and word of mouth could shape the opening-weekend competition.
Vijay Deverakonda’s ‘Ranabaali’ is gearing up for a box-office showdown in North America, and the early numbers have already sparked a debate among Telugu cinema fans. The film is facing competition from Rajinikanth’s ‘Jailer 2,’ which is also generating interest ahead of its theatrical release.
While ‘Jailer 2’ appears to have an early advantage in premiere bookings, Ranabaali is showing signs of gaining momentum. The big question is whether Vijay Deverakonda can turn that growing interest into a stronger box-office performance.
‘Ranabaali’ vs ‘Jailer 2’: What Do the Numbers Say?
Early North American booking figures suggest that Jailer 2 has started on a stronger note. According to trade reports published on October 12, the film’s Telugu-version premieres in the US had collected approximately USD 71,000 in advance sales, compared with around USD 52,000 for ‘Ranabaali’.
However, the gap may not tell the whole story. ‘Jailer 2’ was scheduled to premiere in the US on October 14, while ‘Ranabaali’ was set for October 15 premieres, ahead of its worldwide release on October 16. Differences in booking windows and the pace of ticket sales can significantly influence these early figures.
Adding to the excitement, subsequent reports indicated that ‘Ranabaali’ had crossed USD 100,000 in North American advance bookings. While this suggests growing interest, the figure should be viewed in the context of the market covered and the time at which the numbers were reported.

Can Vijay Deverakonda Close the Gap?
Directed by Rahul Sankrityan, ‘Ranabaali’ stars Vijay Deverakonda along with Rashmika Mandanna in a period drama. The chemistry of both the actors in the film set against the backdrop of history and the action component would definitely help in attracting the audiences, especially those from Telugu-speaking communities in North America.
The foreign audience can make a big difference for any Telugu film during its opening weekend collection. Good advance sales should be considered promising; however, the ultimate test would be in terms of the number of people attending the movies.
This would be a major challenge for the movie ‘Jailer 2’. Rajinikanth has a lot of fans outside India, and the anticipation regarding the sequel would definitely be in favor of the film. Moreover, the film is set to be released one day ahead of the worldwide release of ‘Ranabaali’.
Still, a strong opening is not determined by advance bookings alone. Audience reactions, reviews and word of mouth can quickly change the box-office picture. If ‘Ranabaali’ connects with viewers, it could build momentum beyond its initial numbers.

The Final Box Office Verdict
For now, ‘Jailer 2’ appears to have the early advantage in reported US premiere bookings, while ‘Ranabaali’ is showing encouraging signs of growth across North America. Whether Vijay Deverakonda can overtake Rajinikanth remains to be seen.
Ultimately, the competition will come down to audience turnout and how both films perform after their premieres. The advance numbers have set the stage for an intriguing clash, but the opening weekend will reveal which film truly has the upper hand.
