ICH to More Than Double Q4 Supply for Apple’s iPhone Duo, Riding Launch Demand

ICH’s corporate logo ICH Co., Ltd. expects a sharp increase in demand for its materials after Apple’s first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, drew strong demand at launch. The Korean materials supplier said on Oct. 23 that its supply volume for the device in the fourth quarter would more than double its original plan, citing stronger-than-expected sales. ICH’s main product supplied for the iPhone Duo is polyethylene (PE) foam, which absorbs internal shocks and helps reinforce durability in the device’s folding structure. The company attributed the order to its product quality and vertically integrated manufacturing capabilities, which allow it to respond quickly to customer requirements. The iPhone Duo officially went on sale on Oct. 23, following strong demand during preorders that reportedly exhausted initial inventory. Industry estimates suggest shipments of Apple’s foldable phones could reach approximately 14 million units by next year. In line with rising demand, ICH’s monthly PE foam supply for the fourth quarter is expected to reach the 2 billion won range. ICH’s competitive advantage includes supplying both Apple and Samsung Electronics, two major players in the global foldable smartphone market. The company also supplies cushioning polyurethane (PU) foam and electromagnetic interference-shielding gaskets for Samsung’s latest Galaxy Z8 series. By supplying key materials for flagship foldable models from both manufacturers, ICH expects to benefit further as the market expands. ICH is strengthening its position as an advanced IT materials and components supplier through its proprietary, environmentally friendly technologies. Its product portfolio includes radio-frequency (RF) gaskets that help shield electronic components from electromagnetic interference, as well as high-performance cushioning foam that protects internal parts. An industry source said materials that enhance durability are particularly important given the structural complexity of foldable phones, adding that stronger device sales can translate into increased demand for component materials. An ICH representative said demand for the company’s materials had risen rapidly following the stronger-than-expected response to Apple’s first foldable phone. The representative added that ICH expects to continue benefiting from market growth because it supplies key materials to both Apple and Samsung Electronics.
