Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has congratulated former Kano State Governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, on his 70th birthday, describing him as a dear elder brother and partner in service to Nigeria.
Obi, in a birthday message shared on his Facebook page on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, praised Kwankwaso for his decades of public service and contributions to the country through various political and leadership positions.
The former Anambra State governor said his relationship with Kwankwaso had grown through shared conversations, mutual respect and a common commitment to Nigeria’s development.
“As you mark your 70th birthday on October 21, I honour not only an accomplished public servant but also a very dear elder brother and partner whose life has been dedicated to serving our people,” Obi said.
He highlighted Kwankwaso’s experience in the legislature, the Federal Executive Council, the governorship of Kano State and national politics, describing his career as one marked by years of public service and engagement with Nigerians.
According to Obi, attaining the age of 70 offers an opportunity to reflect on a life dedicated to public service, the wisdom gained through experience and the prospects for further contributions to national development.
The NDC presidential candidate also expressed appreciation for his partnership with Kwankwaso, stressing their shared aspiration for a Nigeria where every citizen has access to opportunities and can live with dignity and security.
“As we continue to hope for and work towards a better Nigeria, I remain grateful for our partnership and for our shared conviction that our nation can become a place where no child is deprived of opportunity, no family is left in poverty, and every Nigerian can live with dignity, security and hope,” he stated.
Obi further prayed for God’s blessings upon Kwankwaso, wishing him renewed strength, good health, wisdom and many more productive years.
He expressed hope that the former Kano governor’s years ahead would be marked by peace, fulfilment and the realisation of the values they both cherish for the country.
“Warmest congratulations on your 70th birthday, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. I honour you on this special occasion and pray that the chapter ahead will be filled with abundant blessings and many more purposeful years,” Obi added.
Kwankwaso, a prominent Nigerian politician, has held several public offices, including serving as governor of Kano State and as a federal legislator, making him a significant figure in Nigeria’s political landscape.
