The Korea AI and Robot Industry Association has received a presidential commendation for leading the standardization of robot technology at home and abroad and strengthening the competitiveness of the industry.
The association said on the 15th that it received the award at the 2026 World Standards Day ceremony held on the 14th. The commendation, hosted by the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards under the Ministry of Trade and Industry and organized by the Korean Standards Association, is given to individuals and organizations that contribute to national standardization and industrial competitiveness.
The association has supported the development and adoption of standards in the robotics sector through cooperation among companies, universities and research institutes. In particular, it has operated the Intelligent Robot Standards Forum, working to identify standardization needs at industrial sites and reflect them in the development of technical standards.
The group has also taken an active role in international standardization. It has responded to developments at bodies including the International Organization for Standardization's technical committee on robotics (ISO TC 299), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Object Management Group (OMG), while supporting Korean experts taking part in international standards discussions.
"It is meaningful that the results of the standardization work we have pursued have been recognized," said Bae Seok-tae, standing vice chairman of the Korea AI and Robot Industry Association. "We will continue to support the development of standards needed at industrial sites and work to strengthen the international competitiveness of Korea's robot technology."
