DIMAPUR: The Department of Power continued its efforts to promote the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana under the ongoing Seva Setu Abhiyan at Secretariat Junction, Kohima, on October 15, as the three-day campaign entered its second day.
According to a DIPR report, the campaign focuses on raising public awareness about the rooftop solar scheme and facilitating consumer registration to encourage households to adopt solar energy.
Minister for Power and Parliamentary Affairs, K.G. Kenye, visited the campaign venue and interacted with vendors and banking representatives. He appreciated their efforts and encouraged them to continue supporting the initiative to expand rooftop solar adoption among consumers.
Highlighting challenges in implementing the scheme, Kenye pointed to technical issues, including malfunctioning devices that had led to delays and consumer complaints. He also noted that initial societal resistance to adopting new technology had contributed to the slow uptake of the scheme.
He assured that the department remained committed to addressing these challenges and working towards achieving the targeted number of subscriptions.
Emphasising the importance of public awareness and consumer confidence, Kenye expressed optimism that participation would increase as more successful installations were completed and households became aware of the scheme’s benefits.
The Department of Power reiterated its commitment to strengthening public outreach, facilitating consumer registration and encouraging more households to adopt rooftop solar power through the initiative.
