Shoppers who have had to retype their name, phone number and address each time they order from a different online store will soon be spared that step.
Cafe24 (042000.KQ), a global e-commerce platform, said on the 13th that it is launching Shopping Passport, a feature that lets consumers pull up saved delivery addresses across multiple Cafe24-based online stores and use them at checkout. The feature allows information saved once to be retrieved after authentication, removing the need to enter delivery details again at each store. Even at a store they are visiting for the first time, shoppers who select a saved address have their name, phone number and address filled into the order form automatically.
The function works regardless of whether the shopper has signed up as a member, simplifying the ordering process for first-time visitors. Previously, customers buying as non-members had to enter their delivery details every time they switched stores. With Shopping Passport, they can retrieve a saved address and place an order without creating an account.
Using it is straightforward. When ordering, shoppers click the address search button in the delivery field and select the Shopping Passport tab. After authenticating through a passkey, NAVER or Kakao, they choose the address they want and the details are entered automatically into the order form. The information can be reviewed or edited before the order is placed. In addition to addresses saved directly to Shopping Passport, delivery addresses stored with NAVER or Kakao can also be retrieved after authentication. Delivery details newly entered during an order can likewise be saved to Shopping Passport from the order confirmation page and used later at other stores.
For merchants, the service can serve as a tool for acquiring new members. The address-saving and auto-fill functions will be applied by default from Nov. 2. Merchants can enable the feature early or change whether it is used through administrator settings starting on the 21st of this month.
"The range of online stores and brands that consumers encounter keeps widening, but the inconvenience of having to re-enter the same information whenever they move to a different store has remained," Cafe24 CEO Lee Jae-suk said. "Through Shopping Passport, we will make the purchasing process simpler for consumers and help merchants reduce the ordering burden on first-time visitors so they can secure more buying opportunities."
