The driver involved in the fatal accident in the Akurana area was reportedly arrested yesterday (Oct. 19).
He is scheduled to be produced before the Kandy Magistrate’s Court today (Oct. 20).
The driver of the Prime Mover involved in the accident is a 46-year-old resident of the Galgamuwa area.
Six people died in the accident, while those injured were admitted to hospitals in Kandy and Akurana for treatment.
Police said post-mortem examinations on the deceased were conducted at Kandy Hospital, after which their bodies were handed over to their relatives.
Further investigations are being conducted by Alawathugoda Police.
