In fulfillment of his earlier promise to provide immediate relief and restore livelihoods lost during the recent violent attack in Ibadan, the member representing Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West federal constituency of Oyo State in the House of Representatives, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide Odidiomo, has made cash presentations to victims affected by the Molete market unrest.
In a press statement made available to newsmen in Ibadan by his Special Adviser, Media and Public Affairs, Tolu Mustapha, the federal lawmaker affirmed that the gesture aligns directly with his cardinal political philosophy of protecting the lives, property, and economic wellbeing of his constituents.
Mustapha noted that the Molete axis falls squarely within the lawmaker’s constituency, making it imperative to intervene and cushion the financial blow dealt to hard-working traders whose goods and trading assets were looted or destroyed by hoodlums during the unexpected mayhem.
According to the statement, preliminary investigations conducted after the attack revealed that the affected victims fell into two distinct categories: traders operating under the Molete flyover bridge whose goods were carted away, and commercial transporters as well as private motorists whose vehicles and motorcycles were either severely damaged or stolen.

Out of the nine traders directly identified as having suffered severe losses, six were physically present to receive their emergency cash disbursements, while three others could not attend in person due to ongoing medical treatments for injuries sustained during the violence.
The statement assured that the financial entitlements of the three absent victims have been safely set aside and will be delivered directly to them as they continue their recovery, ensuring that no identified victim is left uncompensated.
It will be recalled that the financial intervention comes as a follow-up to an earlier on-the-spot assessment and empathy tour led by Hon. Olajide to the Molete under bridge market, where he condemned the violent assault as a threat to public peace.
During his visit, the lawmaker, who is also the Oyo South senatorial candidate of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) for the 2027 general election, promised full restitution for lost assets, a brand new motorcycle for an assaulted commercial rider, and complete coverage of medical bills for all hospitalized victims across various health facilities in the state capital.
Reaffirming his unalloyed commitment to responsive legislative governance, Hon. Olajide assured the trading community and the citizens of Oyo South Senatorial District of Oyo State that his office would continue to prioritise security, social justice and economic recovery.
He reiterated his call on security agencies to expedite investigations to arrest and prosecute all perpetrators and sponsors of the Molete attack, while appealing to residents across the Oyo South Senatorial District to remain law-abiding and go about their daily activities without fear of intimidation or harassment.
