KUALA LUMPUR: Construction group GDB Holdings Bhd (GDB) has secured a RM119.0 million sub-contract for the National Flood Forecasting and Warning Programme Phase 3 in Sarawak, by I-Ilham Corporation Sdn Bhd, the main contractor for the project.
GDB's wholly-owned subsidiary GDB Infra Sdn Bhd was awarded the job, which is scheduled for completion by Nov 29, 2029.
In a statement announcing the contract, GDB's executive director and acting group managing director Andy Lai Wee Young said that the appointment underscores the trust in the group's specialised construction expertise.
"Flood mitigation infrastructure is a key growth area, and we are well-positioned to capture opportunities in climate resilience and disaster preparedness. With our expanding East Malaysian construction portfolio spanning roadworks, water treatment, and flood forecasting, we are equipped to drive further growth," said Lai.
The project marks GDB's fourth infrastructure contract win in Sarawak, lifting its cumulative construction value in the state to RM355.9 million. The award also boosts GDB's year-to-date wins to RM795.3 million across Peninsular and East Malaysia.
Bolstered by the new win, the group is on track to achieve its RM1.0 billion order book target for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2026. GDB's tender book stands at RM4.3 billion as at Oct 13, spanning the industrial, data centre, commercial, mixed-use, infrastructure, and residential sectors.
Complementing its expanding Sarawak footprint, GDB's major ongoing developments in Peninsular Malaysia include the 60-storey Wolo Hotel & Residences Mont Kiara KL, the International Tertiary Hospital at KL Wellness City, and Logistics Hub Plot B in Shah Alam.
