Following the news that filming has wrapped on Amazon's upcoming Life is Strange adaptation, the show has received a major endorsement from the original game's staff. Michel Koch, co-creator and director of the 2015 game, recently visited the set and came away with only glowing things to say about the new take on the beloved story.
"This month, I experienced one of the most surreal weeks of my life," Koch wrote in a post on Instagram. "Being on the set of the #lifeisstrange show with my close friends Jean-Luc [Cano] and Luc [Baghadoust], surrounded by such an amazing bunch of people was a highlight of my career." He then went on to say he couldn't be prouder of what the show's team has put together.
Koch specifically shouted out Tatum Grace Hopkins and Maisy Stella, the show's Max and Chloe respectively. The post includes a shot of the pair with Koch, which also happens to be one of the best looks we've seen of the characters' live-action appearances. It seems the picture was taken in the show's version of the Two Whales Diner, one of many iconic locations from the game.
Is Don't Nod involved in the Life is Strange TV show?
The fact that Koch, Cano, and Baghadoust visited the set is notable for one major reason. While Don't Nod created the series and developed the original game, it does not own the series. Following the release of Life is Strange 2, which the studio also developed, the series was handed over to Deck Nine, with Don't Nod moving on to its own projects. Because of this, Square Enix is a producer on the series, while Don't Nod has no official involvement.
That being said, it seems the TV show's team felt it was important to include the original creators in some way, even if that just took the form of a set visit. This will likely go a long way with fans, as it shows respect for how important these characters are to both their creators and fans.
The Life Is Strange TV series will stream on Amazon Prime. It does not yet have a release date.
