A Nairobi man who goes by the name MC Kiongozi on TikTok has come out to share deep regret over a decision he made as a young person: installing 12 silver teeth to fit in with the crowd around him.

In a candid video that has drawn significant attention online, Kiongozi described how bad company and the desire to appear a certain way drove him to alter his teeth permanently, a choice he now wishes he could undo.
Why did MC Kiongozi install silver teeth?
Looking back, Kiongozi said the decision was driven entirely by the wrong crowd.
"I wanted to impress people who do not also understand themselves," he said. "Now I interact with people who can help me grow and it's hard because they view me differently because of my teeth. Some people and even family think I am still a thief and my identity and life has been messed up by them."
The silver teeth, which were once a badge of belonging in his social circle, have become a source of shame and social barriers in his adult life.
Kiongozi said he approached a dentist about reversing the procedure, but the path back is neither simple nor cheap.
Because his natural teeth were trimmed down before the silver caps were fitted, removing them would expose sharp stubs that require crowning to look normal.
His dentist offered him a discounted rate of KSh 5,000 per tooth, but with 12 teeth involved, the total still comes to KSh 60,000, a figure he described as a heavy financial burden.
He is now using his experience as a warning to younger Kenyans, urging them to think carefully before making any permanent changes to their bodies under social influence.
"Avoid getting involved in peer pressure, especially when it comes to altering one's body permanently," he said.
Kenyans on TikTok responded to his story with a mix of empathy, advice and their own reflections:
