When Jaguars long snapper Ross Matiscik got hurt on his first snap on Sunday in London, nose tackle DaVon Hamilton filled in. Considering that Hamilton had never done it in a game before, and had rarely even practiced, he did it pretty well, including on the game-winning field goal as time expired.
Hamilton knew all eyes were on him on the last play of the game, but he said he felt fine.
“I wasn’t that nervous. It is what it is. You’ve got to do a job? Get it done. It worked out,” Hamilton said.
Hamilton said punter and holder Logan Cooke and kicker Cam Little were both supportive, even after a bad snap led to a missed extra point.
“They were so proud. Stepping up for your team and helping them win games like this, it’s a big moment. Whatever I can do, I’ll do it to help our team win games,” Hamilton said.
Hamilton said he doesn’t want to keep the long snapping job.
“No, I’m fine,” Hamilton said. “Hopefully I don’t have to do it next week and we can move on. But it was fun.”
