After a memorable trip to the Elite Eight last spring, Iowa is receiving votes in the preseason AP Top 25 college basketball poll.
The Hawkeyes received 12 points in the preseason poll.
Iowa finished 24-13 (10-10 Big Ten) last season behind the star power of Bennett Stirtz. Stirtz was drafted by the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Hawkeyes' other two top scorers from last year's team—forwards Alvaro Folgueiras and Tavion Banks—aren't back with Iowa this season.
But, Iowa head men's basketball coach Ben McCollum returns players such as Cooper Koch, Cam Manyawu, Kael Combs, Tate Sage, and Isaia Howard. The Hawkeyes landed key transfer portal additions in guard Ty'Reek Coleman and center Andrew McKeever.
Five Big Ten teams find themselves inside the preseason AP Top 25, led by No. 3 Illinois. Michigan State is No. 6, defending national champion Michigan is No. 16, USC is No. 21, and UCLA is No. 22. Nebraska (70 points), Purdue (53 points), Ohio State (39 points), and Indiana (8 points) join the Hawkeyes as Big Ten teams in the receiving votes category.
