By Zoila Palma: Today, the Ministry of the Public Service, Disaster Risk Management and Enterprise issued a statement confirming a road traffic incident involving a government vehicle assigned to the Minister.
The accident reportedly occurred on October 2.
The Ministry says that Minister Usher and his driver were returning from official duties in San Ignacio Town in the Ford F-150 pickup truck when the incident occurred.
“After dropping the Minister at his residence, the driver was on his way home when the vehicle experienced a blowout near the roundabout at Mile 2 on the Philip Goldson Highway, causing it to flip and suffer extensive damage. Fortunately, the driver did not sustain any injuries,” the Ministry explained.
The Ministry says that police responded to the scene and commenced an investigation into the matter.
“Following the incident, and in accordance with government procedures, the Ministry reported the matter to the Assets and Utilities Management Unit (A.U.M.U.),” it added.
In addition, the ministry urged drivers of government vehicles to exercise caution when driving particularly during periods of heavy rain.
