The University of Karachi (KU) has formed a committee to develop its first comprehensive Brand Book and Institutional Communication Framework to standardize its branding and official communications.
The initiative aims to strengthen the university’s identity, ensure consistency across different platforms, and bring its communication practices in line with international standards.
The committee was formed by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Wasim Qazi and has been given 10 days to submit a draft Brand Book, an implementation plan, and recommendations for phased implementation.
According to a notification issued by Registrar Professor Dr. Imran Ahmad Siddiqui, the committee will be led by Syed Shamoon Haider, in charge of the Department of Visual Studies.
Other members include Murtaza Khalid, Wajiha Siddiqui, and Muhammad Mehdi from Visual Studies, Dr. Nousheen Raza from Sociology, and Dr. Faisal Nazir from English.
The committee will develop uniform guidelines for the university’s logo, colors, fonts, official documents, signage, websites, social media accounts, admission campaigns, and promotional materials.
It will also establish standards for official events, including convocations, seminars, and conferences, along with guidelines for internal and external communication.
The framework will outline how the university recognizes contributions from alumni, philanthropists, corporate organizations, and industrial partners supporting scholarships, infrastructure, research, and student development.
The notification also acknowledged the efforts of university departments and staff to improve campus facilities, restore infrastructure, and establish scholarships.
It emphasized that the university’s academic reputation, research achievements, history, and institutional values should be reflected consistently in its official communications and campus environment.
