Calls for general meeting on October 24
SHILLONG, Oct 19: The Meghalaya Unified Teachers Association (MUTA), under the Structured Pay Framework (SPF), has called for a general meeting of teachers on October 24 to push for their inclusion in the Sixth State Pay Commission and to press for better service conditions and timely salary payments.
MUTA president Aristotle Rymbai said the meeting would be held at Student Field, Jaiaw, at 11 a.m., bringing together SSA, RMSA, ad hoc and fourth teachers.
The association will review the outcomes of its meetings with the Education Department on September 16 and Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on October 13, focusing on its charter of demands.
Besides the Sixth Pay Commission coverage, MUTA is seeking uniform service conditions, including leave and maternity benefits, healthcare and medical reimbursement, loan and interest benefits, and a one-time special package for senior teachers.
It has also demanded full salary payments in a single instalment for SSA and RMSA teachers and regular disbursement by the first day of every month.
Rymbai urged teachers across all SPF categories to attend the meeting, stressing the need for unity in pursuing the association’s demands.
