BATU PAHAT: A fitness trainer and gym owner has been remanded for seven days to assist investigations into the sexual assault of a 9-year-old girl who is a friend of his daughter.
Magistrate Aimi Nawwar Mohamad Othman issued the remand order against the 48-year-old suspect today.
The suspect, a person with disabilities (OKU), arrived at court on crutches due to a right leg injury sustained in an accident seven years ago.
According to the police report, the incident occurred at about 1pm on Oct 17, when the suspect picked up the victim and his 7-year-old daughter for a meal.
After they ate and played at the suspect's house, he allegedly asked the victim to shower in a room before entering the bathroom and committing the act.
The case came to light after the girl told her family what had happened, prompting a police report yesterday.
The case is being investigated under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
