The Zahi Hawass Foundation for Antiquities and Heritage has called on French authorities and the management of the Louvre Museum in Paris to strengthen security measures to protect Egyptian artefacts on display amid unrest and demonstrations in the French capital that led to the museum’s closure.
In a statement, the foundation expressed deep concern over the safety of the unique Egyptian antiquities housed at the world-renowned museum, describing them as an integral part of humanity’s shared heritage and a window into ancient Egyptian civilisation.
The foundation urged the relevant French authorities and Louvre management to immediately implement the highest levels of security and precautionary measures to protect Egyptian cultural assets from any potential damage arising from the ongoing unrest and demonstrations.

It also expressed hope for a swift return to stability and calm across France and the resumption of normal public life, stressing that security and stability are essential to safeguarding cultural and historical heritage.
The foundation reaffirmed that Egyptian cultural heritage was a red line and a global responsibility that must be preserved and protected under all circumstances.
