When the New England Patriots opened up their practice week, there was serious doubt about the Week 6 status of running back TreVeyon Henderson.
Reports said Henderson suffered a high-ankle sprain, which is typically a multi-week injury. In fact, Henderson’s teammate, wide receiver A.J. Brown, suffered the same injury in Week 1 and missed a handful of games as a result.
However, Henderson showed he had a chance to suit up after he logged three limited practices this past week before being given the questionable designation on Friday.
Now, a look at the latest injury update on Henderson before kickoff against the New York Jets on Sunday.

Is TreVeyon Henderson playing today?
Shockingly, Henderson is expected to suit up in Week 6 against the Jets.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport is reporting that Henderson will “likely” overcome his questionable tag to take the field on Sunday.
“Patriots RB TreVeyon Henderson (ankle) and LT Will Campbell (ankle), both of whom are questionable, are likely to play against the Jets, sources say,” Rapoport reported.

TreVeyon Henderson start or sit advice

The expectation was that Henderson was going to take a step forward this season after an impressive rookie campaign.
Unfortunately, that has not come to fruition, with Henderson ranking as just RB47 overall in fantasy points per game, according to Fantasy Pros.
The big issue right now is that Rhamondre Stevenson is still heavily involved and looks very much like the RB1 in New England because he has more trust of the coaching staff, something The Athletic’s Chad Graff has noted.
“Here’s the hard truth of the Patriots’ running back situation: Even after using the No. 38 pick on TreVeyon Henderson in 2025, he’s still not reliable enough to be the team’s top option,” Graff wrote on Oct. 7. “Henderson is more explosive than Rhamondre Stevenson, but Stevenson is the much more reliable back.”
Knowing that, Henderson’s workload is going to remain inconsistent and it’s just difficult to trust him in lineups right now as anything more than a boom-or-bust option.
You can justify starting Henderson against a Jets defense giving up the ninth-most fantasy points per game to running backs this season, but given everything we know, including Henderson maybe not being 100%, we can’t trust him in lineups this week.
