Gearing up for the premiere of her latest film titled “Josephine,” Gemma Chan equipped herself with a full Ferragamo ensemble in attendance at the film’s special screening yesterday in Hollywood. Chan was accompanied by her fellow cast member Mason Reeves, who plays Josephine.
For the red carpet occasion, Chan opted for a look hailing from Ferragamo’s resort 2027 collection, an amalgamation of looks inspired by 1920s dressing and attitude. Chan’s particular look was a sage green formal gown crafted of plush, textural velvet that draped over her neck in an angular fashion, transitioning into a fitted bodice, waist, and angular skirt that pooled at her feet.
This design, hailing from the mind of Maximilian Davis, is flapper-esque, crafted without sleeves or curvature, a straight up-and-down style reminiscent of a garçonne dress. These historic silhouettes featured drop waists and little to no shape for a boyish look, meant to flatten rather than emphasize, hence the root word garçon, meaning boy.

Also from Ferragamo’s resort collection, the “Crazy Rich Asians” actress wore black pumps equipped with gilded capped toes. The two-toned shoe features primarily black uppers that transition into sculptural gold accents that draw inspiration from the 1920s to 1940s surrealist art movements; think Schiaparelli and Salvador Dali.
Chan’s chosen footwear was inspired by Ferragamo’s 1947 archives; specifically, the brand’s F-shaped wedge. These historic heels play on the futurism art trend meshed with boho silhouettes of the time, integrating sculptural heels and patchwork into some shoes.
As a Cartier ambassador, it was only right that the “Eternals” actress wear the brand’s designs on the red carpet. Chan opted for a Cartier Panthère De Cartier ring shaped like a panther in silver alongside coordinating Cartier Panthère De Cartier earrings, aka studs that look like panthers, also in silver.
Both pieces are studded with diamonds and feature a sculptural construction meant to look like the animal that gave them their name. Chan’s hair was simple, with a parted updo featuring front pieces kept out of the updo to frame her face. Makeup was equally minimal, featuring a peachy blush, rose-toned lippie, and subtle eye makeup. Chan’s
