US Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle has described her diplomatic tenure as the greatest honour of her life, highlighted achievements in energy, defence and trade, and vowed to defend her name and reputation against what she called false allegations.
In a statement posted on her personal X account following her resignation announcement, Guilfoyle thanked US President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio for entrusting her with the role. She also expressed gratitude to the Greek people for their hospitality, cooperation and warm welcome.
Guilfoyle said she had worked from the beginning of her tenure to advance Trump’s “America First” agenda, strengthen the strategic alliance between Greece and the United States, and deliver results for the American people.
Energy and Defence Cooperation Among Key Achievements
Guilfoyle pointed to agreements aimed at increasing US liquefied natural gas exports to Europe, efforts to advance the Vertical Gas Corridor and reduce Europe’s dependence on Russian energy, and closer defence and security cooperation with Greece, a key NATO ally.
She also highlighted efforts to expand opportunities for American businesses and investment across the region.
“I am particularly proud of the role our Embassy played in strengthening American energy dominance, advancing economic cooperation and ensuring that the United States remains an indispensable leader in Southeast Europe,” Guilfoyle said.
She credited Trump’s leadership, Rubio’s commitment to American diplomacy and the work of US diplomatic personnel for the achievements she outlined.
Guilfoyle Vows to Defend Her Name Against Allegations
Addressing recent allegations against her, Guilfoyle rejected them as false and vowed to defend her reputation and integrity.
“These allegations are false, and I intend to vigorously defend my name, my reputation and my integrity,” she said.
Guilfoyle added that she had devoted her professional life to pursuing justice, standing up for what was right and defending the values she believes distinguish the United States.
She said she would not allow what she described as false accusations to define her years of public service.
Guilfoyle also reaffirmed her loyalty to Trump and Rubio, saying her support for the president and his mission to “Make America Great Again” remained unchanged.
“Although my time as ambassador may be coming to an end, my commitment to President Trump, the America First movement and the country I love will never end,” she said.
Thanks Greek People for Their Hospitality
Guilfoyle closed her statement by describing service to the United States as the greatest honour of her life and thanking Greeks for the way they had welcomed her.
“I extend my deepest and most sincere thanks to the Greek people for their hospitality, cooperation and the warm welcome with which they embraced me,” she said.
She concluded by invoking God’s blessing on Trump, US diplomats, members of the American armed forces and the United States.
Her statement presented her tenure as one focused on strengthening Greek-American ties, advancing US energy interests in Europe and expanding regional economic and security cooperation, while firmly rejecting the allegations against her.
