CHITWAN: Jeep safari services have resumed in Chitwan National Park (CNP) after remaining suspended since July 1 due to the monsoon season. The services restarted on October 9 following repairs to park roads damaged by heavy rainfall.
Park Information Officer Abinash Thapa Magar said safari operations resumed after necessary maintenance work was completed, including repairing flood-damaged roads, clearing fallen trees, and trimming overgrown vegetation. He explained that the reopening had been delayed by flood damage to the safari routes during the second week of Ashwin.
Although jeep safaris inside the national park were suspended, jeep and elephant safaris in the buffer zones and community forests continued to operate as usual during the period.
A total of 74 jeeps operate inside the park through various entry points. Of these, 32 operate from Sauraha, 22 from Kasara, 11 from Meghauli, eight from Amaltari, and one from Madi.
Tourists use the jeeps to explore the park and observe its diverse wildlife, particularly the rare one-horned rhinoceros and the Bengal tiger.
