Cape Henlopen quarterback Jameson Tingle joins Brandon Holveck on the latest episode of DE Gameday, Delaware Online/The News Journal's weekly high school sports show, to discuss his decision to commit to play football at the University of Delaware and Cape Henlopen's 5-0 start to the 2026 season.
"I want to play in front of my state," Tingle said. "That's something big. That's something I value."
Tingle also described his growth as a quarterback since starting as a freshman in the Class 3A title game to opening his senior season ranked first in Delaware Online/The News Journal's preseason football player rankings. A part of his growth has come under Chip Knapp, the second-year Cape Henlopen head coach who helmed Wesley College's offense for three decades.
"There are no boring parts of practice," Tingle said. "It's always stressful. It's always rapid movement. It's always fast movement. The biggest thing is game situations... We'll have the whole team out there just whistles blowing, music blaring and just getting us ready for those big moments."

At the end of the episode, Holveck shares three of the top things he will be keeping an eye on in Delaware high school sports the rest of the week. He previews the week's top football game between Smyrna (4-1), ranked second in Class 3A, and No. 3 Cape Henlopen (5-0), explains the significance of Joe O'Neill Invitational cross country meet and highlights a recent run of success by the Padua volleyball team.
