Colombo, Oct. 20 (Daily Mirror) - Sanjaya Samarasinghe, the private secretary to Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa, was released on bail today by Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama under the Proceeds of Crime Act, No. 5 of 2025.
The suspect was arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) over the alleged possession of property suspected to have been derived from criminal activity.
After considering the facts presented before the court, the Magistrate ordered the suspect’s release on two surety bails of Rs. 1 million each.
The court also imposed a travel ban preventing the suspect from leaving the country.
The case was fixed for December 10 for further proceedings.
