Tripura Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma on Thursday inaugurated three newly constructed classrooms and three laboratories at Asharambari Higher Secondary School in Khowai district, officials said.
The facilities, located within the minister's Assembly constituency, are expected to strengthen the school's infrastructure and improve students' access to quality education and practical learning.
The inauguration programme was attended by the Additional District Magistrate of Khowai, the Block Development Officer of Tulashikhar and other officials.
Addressing the gathering, Debbarma said development should be measured by the positive changes it brings to people's lives rather than by the size of buildings or the number of projects undertaken.
He emphasised that public infrastructure must be completed on time, properly maintained and effectively utilised to ensure that government investments deliver tangible benefits to local communities.
Highlighting his association with Khowai, the minister described his roots in the area as an integral part of his identity. He, however, said his responsibilities extended to every citizen of Tripura.
Debbarma stressed the need to strengthen educational facilities, create better opportunities for young people and promote development at the grassroots level.
He urged government officials and public representatives to adopt a result-oriented approach and ensure that development initiatives address local needs and improve people's quality of life.
The minister said the success of public projects should be assessed by their actual impact on communities rather than merely by their completion or physical scale.
The three classrooms will provide additional space for academic activities, while the laboratories are expected to enable students to gain hands-on experience and develop a better understanding of scientific subjects.
The facilities are aimed at creating a more conducive learning environment at Asharambari Higher Secondary School and expanding the educational infrastructure available to students in the surrounding area.
Debbarma also underscored the importance of accountability in implementing development projects. He called for regular monitoring, timely completion and proper maintenance of public assets to ensure their long-term usefulness.
He urged officials to ensure that infrastructure investments achieve their intended objectives and contribute meaningfully to the welfare of people across Tripura.
The inauguration marks an addition to the educational facilities available in the Khowai area, with the new classrooms and laboratories expected to support the school's academic activities.
