By Zoila Palma: Galen University has partnered with the Belize Defence Force (BDF) and the Belize Coast Guard (BCG) to deliver a Training of Trainers (ToT) Program aimed at strengthening instructional capabilities within the country’s national security agencies.
The program runs from October 13 to 23, 2026, and brings together 35 participants from the two institutions.
The initiative is designed to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience needed to deliver effective, competency-based training within their respective organizations.
The program seeks to develop qualified instructors who can support ongoing professional development and capacity-building efforts within the BDF and Coast Guard.
The training focuses on four key areas: adult learning principles, competency-based teaching and learning, online teaching and learning methods, and practical teaching exercises. These areas are intended to help participants better understand adult education, improve lesson planning and delivery, and incorporate online learning approaches into their instructional practices.
Galen noted that participants will engage in guided learning activities, practical exercises, and microteaching sessions, allowing them to demonstrate their skills and receive feedback on their teaching methods. The hands-on approach is expected to help instructors refine their techniques and strengthen their ability to deliver effective training to personnel within their organizations.
Galen University said the program reflects its continued commitment to collaborating with Belize’s national security agencies to expand access to relevant training opportunities and strengthen professional competencies.
