ABC will give its most popular show, High Potential, the biggest possible platform during its third season.
The network has scheduled an episode of High Potential to run after Super Bowl LXI on Feb. 14, 2027. ABC made the announcement via a short promo spot with star Kaitlin Olson during its Monday Night Football telecast.
High Potential is scheduled to start its third season early next year as part of ABC’s midseason lineup. The Super Bowl episode will not be the season premiere, but the network hasn’t announced a debut date for season three yet.
Season two of High Potential averaged 16 million cross-platform viewers over 35 days, ranking third among all network shows (excluding live sports) for the 2025-26 season. It also led all non-sports network series in the key ad sales demographic of adults 18-49 (3.35 rating, equivalent to about 4.56 million people in that age range).
Airing after the Super Bowl will give the series a chance to surpass those numbers in a single night. The last scripted show to air after the game, CBS’ Tracker series premiere in 2024, drew 18.44 million viewers.
Olson stars in High Potential as a woman with an “exceptional mind,” as the show’s logline puts it, and a knack for solving criminal cases that leads to a consulting job with the LAPD. Daniel Sunjata, Javicia Leslie, Deniz Akdeniz, Amirah J, Matthew Lamb and Judy Reyes also star.
ABC has the Super Bowl broadcast rights for the first time since 2006 and, along with other Disney outlets, in mounting a year-long promotional campaign for the event. The game will also be simulcast on ESPN and Disney+, with alternate presentations on ESPN2, ESPNU and NFL Network. ESPN Deportes and Univision will carry Spanish-language telecasts.
High Potential was created by Drew Goddard, based on the French series Haute Potentiel Intellectuel. Nora and Lilla Zuckerman are the showrunners for season three and executive produce with Goddard and Sarah Esberg of Goddard Textiles and Olson. Andrea Massaro of Goddard Textiles is co-EP. Disney’s 20th Television is the studio.
