Ukraine launched drone strikes on St. Petersburg and the surrounding Leningrad region overnight on October 18. The attack appears to have been the largest in the region since the war began. In St. Petersburg, the strikes damaged an oil terminal at the port, the Ruchyi oil depot, an Ozon warehouse, a VK data center, the Vostochnaya electrical substation, a cable-stayed bridge over the Korabelny shipping channel, and an addiction treatment hospital on Vasilyevsky Island. Residential buildings and dozens of cars across the city and the surrounding region were also damaged. One St. Petersburg resident was killed, and 15 others in the city and the region were injured. Meduza has compiled photos and videos showing the aftermath of the attack.
