Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao on Wednesday accused the Congress government of weakening Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) and trying to hand it over to big corporate entities.
Addressing the ‘Singareni Karmika Garjana’ public meeting in Godavarikhani in Peddapalli district on Wednesday evening, Mr. Rao accused the Congress government in Telangana and the BJP-led government at the Centre of undermining the interests of SCCL and its workforce.
Mr. Rao alleged that the SCCL was facing mismanagement and irregularities under the Congress regime.
Claiming that around ₹60,000 crore was due to SCCL by the State government, he cited alleged delays in finalizing overburden (OB) tenders and site visit certification conditions as among the issues affecting the company’s operations.
He accused Union Coal Minister G. Kishan Reddy of failing to act on BRS complaints about alleged irregularities in SCCL.
Mr. Rao said BRS president and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao was committed to protecting SCCL and its workforce.
He also recalled the role of Singareni workers in the Telangana movement, particularly in the 42-day Sakala Janula Samme.
