Nathan Fielder's documentary on convicted Theranos fraudster Elizabeth Holmes could make history at the Academy Awards next year.
Titled You Can See Everything, the three-hour docufilm has already won universal acclaim from critics and audiences alike, and now it is tipped to potentially become the first documentary to ever receive a Best Picture nod at the Oscars.
Variety confirmed on Monday that the A24 project will be submitted for multiple categories, including Best Picture, Best Documentary, and Best Director for Fielder and Lance Oppenheim.
However, the most buzzworthy submission will no doubt be Best Supporting Actress for Amanda Seyfried.
The A-lister has a surprise role in You Can See Everything, both as herself and as Holmes.
Seyfried previously portrayed Holmes in the Hulu miniseries The Dropout, which becomes a major plot point in the documentary.

If nominated, it will be for playing both herself and for playing Holmes.
Seyfried's involvement on You Can See Everything was kept a strict secret leading up to its release, with her surprise performance blindsiding viewers who attended any one of the many sold-out screenings this past weekend.
The actress already won Outstanding Lead Actress at the 2022 Emmys for her role as Holmes in The Dropout.
You Can See Everything has dazzled critics since its release, boasting a record-setting 99 on Metacritic, 98% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 4.7 (out of 5) on Letterboxd.
It's also at a 9.4 on IMDB, which will make it the highest-rated film in IMDB history if the score holds.
You Can See Everything raked in $15million in its opening weekend despite only playing in 855 theatres.
That makes it the biggest box office opening for a documentary in over 20 years, with A24 calling it 'one of the largest limited-release openings of the 21st century.'
It was only defeated at the weekend box office by Street Fighter, which earned $31million, but that opened on 3,575 screens.
The most shockers Oscars submission for the documentary is certainly Best Supporting Actress for Amanda Seyfried

In addition to a Best Picture submission, co-directors Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim are being pushed for Best Director
You Can See Everything is expected to perform strongly in its second week thanks to strong word of mouth, with A24 set to expand it to more screens to capitalize on the momentum.
Fielder and Oppenheim documented Holmes in the 34 days leading up to her 11 year prison sentence, with the footage making up the first half of You Can See Everything.
In 2022, she was convicted on four counts of fraud for raising hundreds of millions of dollars by misleading investors about the technology behind her healthcare startup.
The company claimed it could conduct hundreds of blood tests using a single drop of blood obtained through a finger prick, but a series of investigative articles published by The Wall Street Journal exposed the fraud.
The meta docufilm also stars Holmes' partner Billy Evans, who is the father of her two children.
Fielder, best known for his Comedy Central series Nathan for You and HBO show The Rehearsal, dominates most of You Can See Everything as he struggles to decipher the truth about Holmes.
It later spirals into a bizarre meta narrative that critics have called groundbreaking.
