Via X Thursday, October 15, the governor claimed the state was responsible.
He did not delve into the circumstances of the supposed move by the government. He said such moves would not intimidate him.
"Today, the government withdrew my security for the nth time, I remain unbowed," he wrote.
The announcement came hours after Orengo attended the first anniversary memorial service for the late Raila Odinga at Migwena Grounds in Bondo, Siaya County, placing the alleged security withdrawal on the same day as the high-profile commemoration.
Orengo Points Blame at Government
In his post, Orengo attributed the decision to the government without identifying a specific ministry or agency.
His use of "the nth time" suggested he is treating this as a recurring pattern rather than an isolated incident.
He offered no further detail about which officers were affected or when exactly the withdrawal took place.
Orengo is an outspoken critic of President William Ruto and is affiliated with the Linda Mwananchi faction, a grouping of ODM rebels who opposes any cooperation with the Ruto administration.
A Recurring Allegation
This would not be the first time the governor has raised concerns over his security.
In May this year, Orengo said his detail was pulled without prior notice on a Tuesday evening, including officers assigned to his Nairobi home.
He subsequently wrote to Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja demanding an explanation and the immediate reinstatement of all officers at their designated posts.
"As a state officer, the provision of security is not a favour, a luxury, or a political privilege. It is a constitutional right and a statutory entitlement anchored in the laws of Kenya to ensure the safety, stability, and uninterrupted service of public leadership. I categorically demand an immediate, formal explanation from the Ministry of Interior and National Administration and the Inspector General of Police regarding the basis of this decision," he wrote in the letter at the time.
In a subsequent interview on Citizen TV in May, Orengo said nine officers attached to him across Nairobi and Siaya had been recalled without explanation and stated that his life was at risk.
He maintained then, as he did now, that neither threat nor pressure would alter his position, saying he would continue serving the people of Siaya "with enthusiasm and patriotism."
Orengo and his Linda Mwananchi allies have consistently accused the Ruto administration of economic mismanagement, alleged abductions, and extrajudicial actions against dissidents.
