District courts’ RTI portal now activeMorung Express NewsDimapur | October 12The eMalkhana portal for district courts in Nagaland will become operational from October 26, enabling the digital recording, management and tracking of case properties and seized articles, according to an order issued by the Gauhati High Court Kohima Bench (GHCKB).The online Malkhana Management System has been introduced for implementation in all district courts in the State, the order dated October 8, signed by Registrar Ajongba Imchen, stated.The system will enable authorised Malkhana officials to digitally record, manage and track case properties, including General Registrar entries, property records, arms and exhibits. It will also facilitate the generation of unique QR codes for quicker identification and retrieval of records, with the stated aim of simplifying record management and improving transparency.The portal can be accessed at http://emalkhana.dcnlservices.in/.Meanwhile, a separate order issued by the Registrar on October 8 stated that the online Right to Information (RTI) portal for district courts in Nagaland had been introduced to facilitate the filing and management of RTI applications.The portal will enable citizens to file RTI applications and first appeals online, track their status and pay the requisite fees electronically, streamlining the information-seeking process and facilitating direct communication with Public Information Officers.The portal, available at https://rti.dcnlservices.in/, was found to be functional when accessed on October 12.Both initiatives were formally launched by Gauhati High Court Judge Justice Devashis Baruah during a programme organised by the Kohima Bench in collaboration with the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority on September 25 in Kohima.The GHCKB had earlier launched its online RTI portal at the Kohima Bench on February 29, 2024, becoming the first public institution in Nagaland to initiate such a process.
