Oklahoma football fans were certainly excited by the possibility of Michael Fasusi returning for the showdown against Kentucky, as the offensive tackle has been sidelined since the season opener. However, a new report has now dampened those expectations.
Oklahoma’s starting left tackle appears set to miss another game. After initially being listed as questionable, Fasusi was downgraded to doubtful, joining fellow offensive lineman Eddy Pierre-Louis on the team’s latest injury report.
“Oklahoma is again expected to be without starting offensive linemen Michael Fasusi and Eddy Pierre-Louis. Both are doubtful,” Nfl insider Pete Thamel reported.

The update is particularly frustrating for Oklahoma fans, as head coach Brent Venables recently offered an encouraging assessment of Fasusi’s recovery during his weekly press conference. His comments suggested that the sophomore was getting closer to returning to the field.
Fasusi initially sustained a shoulder injury during training camp but still played against UTEP in the season opener. Unfortunately, he appeared to aggravate the issue during Oklahoma’s opening-game victory, which forced him to miss the following four games.
Fasusi’s prolonged absence has been a significant concern for Oklahoma’s offensive line. The sophomore was expected to play an important role this season after establishing himself as a regular starter during his freshman season.
Oklahoma is coming off a significant win over Texas and will look to carry that momentum into its matchup against Kentucky. Getting an important offensive lineman back would provide another boost to the team.
However, Fasusi is not the only Oklahoma offensive lineman dealing with an injury concern ahead of the Kentucky game. Alongside Fasusi and Pierre-Louis, offensive lineman Heath Ozaeta was also listed as doubtful.
Meanwhile, Eli Bowen, Jacobe Johnson, Parker Livingstone, Trell Harris, Taylor Heim, Xavier Robinson and Trynae Washington were all listed as out for the upcoming game.
