The Calvary Charismatic Centre (CCC) has announced plans to honour teachers in the Ashanti region for their immense and selfless contribution to education and national development.
The recognition is part of activities marking the church’s annual October Commission.
The church has scheduled November 1 for a Teachers Honouring Sunday to recognise the role of teachers in shaping future generations.
Resident Pastor of CCC at Ayigya, Joshua Obeng, described teachers as the “heart and soul of a nation,” emphasising the need to recognise their contribution to society and encourage them to continue delivering quality education.
“Everyone was trained by a teacher, and so if we can honour them so that they at least feel their importance and the need to continue to teach the students well, then we know that certainly we’ve done something that will go ahead and be an influence to generations to come,” he said.
Pastor Obeng explained that the planned event forms part of the church’s broader commitment to community engagement through its October Commission, an annual initiative aimed at spreading the gospel and demonstrating the love of God through practical support.
As part of this year’s activities, the church organised a free medical and dental outreach on Saturday, October 17, at CCC Agape City at Ejisu-Krapa in the Ashanti Region.
The exercise offered residents free medical screening, including blood pressure and blood sugar checks, as well as dental screening and consultations. It also formed part of the church’s efforts to address health needs and promote awareness of preventive healthcare in surrounding communities.
Pastor Obeng said the October Commission provides an opportunity for the church to reach beyond its congregation and extend support to people in need.
“October Commission is always a time when we use to spread the love of God to our communities,” he said.
He noted that the church’s activities during the period also include the distribution of clothes, foodstuff, and other essential items to support beneficiaries.
“One of the things we do during that time is to do a medical outreach and free giveaway of clothes, of foodstuff, and other things, as sharing our love to the various communities,” he added.
According to him, Ejisu-Krapa was selected for this year’s outreach to enable the church to share its resources with residents and bring them hope and encouragement.
“This year we decided to come to Ejisu-Krapa to set up here to show the Ejisu-Krapa community our love and to bring hope and joy into the heart,” he said.
He expressed satisfaction with the response from residents and prayed for the strength and resources to extend greater support to communities during future editions of the initiative.
Beyond the medical outreach and the planned recognition of teachers, CCC also intends to extend its evangelism activities to Adum as part of efforts to spread the gospel and encourage residents.
The activities form part of the church’s wider October Commission programme, which combines evangelism with community service and initiatives aimed at recognising the contributions of individuals who play important roles in society.
