EDMONTON: Canada's province of Alberta overwhelmingly rejected a plan to hold a binding independence referendum, media projected Tuesday, in a decisive defeat for separatists that drew support from allies of US President Donald Trump.
Public broadcaster CBC projected a clear win for the federalist side, with official results showing more than 76 per cent support for national unity, with roughly at least a third of the votes counted.
