Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council announced on Monday, October 12, 2026, the recovery of four billion Iraqi dinars (approximately $2.66 million) in misappropriated public funds tied to a major financial and administrative corruption case.
The clawback of state capital was executed through specialized judicial intervention on behalf of the state-owned Rafidain Bank.
According to a formal statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the Rusafa Investigation Court Specialized in Integrity and Money Laundering Cases successfully traced and seized the funds following forensic financial tracking.
The presiding investigative judge affirmed that the restitution forms part of ongoing judicial proceedings targeting administrative corruption schemes designed to siphon liquidity from state commercial banking accounts.
The competent magistrate stated that rigorous interrogations and judicial audits conducted by the anti-graft court resulted in the full recovery of the four-billion-dinar sum into Rafidain Bank’s institutional accounts.
The judiciary underscored its steadfast resolve to pursue criminal enforcement and statutory penalties against individuals exploiting illicit mechanisms to generate unlawful personal gains at the direct expense of sovereign assets.
