Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, yesterday, appealed to residents of the state to support President Bola Tinubu’s administration, saying the federal government’s economic reforms are beginning to show in development and better governance.
He made the appeal when he visited the Ojuromi of Uromi, HRH Zaiki Anselm Aidenojie II, at the traditional ruler’s palace, in Esan Northeast local government area. He was accompanied by members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking on his administration’s record, the governor listed road construction, the upgrade of primary healthcare centers, regular payment of salaries, and the building of schools among the areas where work is ongoing.
He admitted that much of what his government is doing will not show results overnight saying “Most of the work I am undertaking can not manifest in one day. It takes time because it involves construction.
“Many roads have been completed, and we have started several others in different parts of the state. They will ease movement and improve economic activities in Edo”.
Governor Okpebholo also spoke about electricity, one of the state’s long-standing challenges. He said a 100-megawatt power plant is expected to come on stream in Edo South in the near future, with another project to add 16 megawatts.
“These projects are part of our efforts to address the power problem in the state”, he said and credited the federal government for progress so far.
“The man driving that success is Mr. President. That is why I am here to tell you that I do not want Edo to be in opposition to this government because of the progress we are already making”, he said.
Earlier, His Royal Highness (HRH) Aidenojie II, Ojuromi of Uromi, speaking on behalf of the Esan Enigies, commended the governor for his efforts at fastt racking development to the state.
He prayed for God’s blessings and prayed that God would continue to give him wisdom to pilot the affairs of the state.
Aidenojie, who described the governor as his son, assured him that the anticipated eight years of his administration would be completed.
