Performing against the magnificent backdrop of the illuminated Amba Vilas Palace is a cherished dream for musicians, dancers, and cultural troupes participating in the Mysuru Dasara cultural events. The iconic venue has hosted artistes of national and international repute over the years, making it one of the most coveted stages in the country.
The palace cultural programmes hold a special place in the Dasara festivities, with artistes eagerly looking forward to an opportunity to showcase their talent. For many, performing under the glow of the illuminated palace is not merely another programme but a memorable experience in their artistic journey.
The audience that gathers at the palace is equally distinctive, with music and dance enthusiasts appreciating the calibre of performers invited to the prestigious stage. On several occasions, the programmes have witnessed audiences demanding encores, prompting celebrated musicians to continue their performances beyond the scheduled time in response to the enthusiastic reception.
The organisers have sustained this tradition by bringing acclaimed artistes to the stage for this year’s Dasara cultural programmes.
On October 12 evening, singer and music composer Raghu Dixit enthralled thousands of music lovers with his popular numbers against the spectacular backdrop of the illuminated palace.
Known for his distinctive folk-rock fusion style, Mr. Dixit received a rousing welcome as he took the stage. He presented a string of hit songs, including Ninna Poojege Bande Mahadeshwara, Hey Bhagavan, Munjaane Manjalli, and Kodagana Koli Nungitta, drawing applause from the audience.
Youngsters danced to the energetic beats, while music lovers joined the singer in singing along to their favourite numbers. His lively performance, complemented by the grandeur of the illuminated palace, made it a memorable musical evening.
Expressing happiness over performing in his hometown, Mr. Dixit said it was a privilege to return to Mysuru and perform in public. The sight of such a large gathering in front of the palace was overwhelming, he said, adding that two eyes were not enough to take in the spectacle.
Recalling his association with Mysuru, he spoke of his earlier performances in the city, and recalled being invited by the Mysuru royal family to perform at the palace.
Mr. Dixit introduced the accompanying musicians — Akshay Ganesh on the violin, George Jacob on the drums, Gautham Hegde on the flute, and Sanjay Kumar on the guitar.
