With Virginia up 13-10 late in the third quarter, Duke quarterback Walker Eget though he had found running back Nate Sheppard on a checkdown pass on 2nd down. However, Robinson had other ideas as he swiped the ball clean off Sheppard. Robinson then sent the ball high up to the sky and, as if playing volleyball by himself, caught it to complete the remarkable interception.
Unfortunately, Robinson and the Cavaliers came up just short as Duke mounted a comeback and would go on to win the game, 19-16. Virginia still had a chance to tie or take the lead in the closing seconds, but Virginia quarterback Beau Pribula threw a costly interception that ended the game.
Sheppard starred in the game as he finished with 66 total yards and a rushing touchdown. He also threw the go-ahead touchdown pass to Brody Keefe in a trick play.
Despite the loss, Robinson had a strong game for the Virginia defense. Aside from his interception, he also recorded two tackles, including a sack on Eget. That was his first sack of the season. Heading into the game, Robinson ranked tied for fifth on the team with 27 total tackles this season, with two passes defended.
With the loss, Virginia dropped to 4-4 on the season. They will be keen to avoid a third straight loss when they visit No. 17 Wake Forest on Halloween.
