A remand prisoner ended his life even as he was undergoing treatment in Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital on Wednesday.
Police said Sankaralingam, 28, of Munneerpallam near Palayamkottai, who was facing more than 20 criminal cases, including murder and attempt-to-murder cases, had been lodged in Palayamkottai Central Prison after being arrested for allegedly in possession of ganja.
Since he had suffered injuries in the leg when he was arrested, Sankaralingam, who had been categorised by the police as ‘A+ history-sheeter’, was admitted to the Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital for treatment. When he went to the toilet on Wednesday afternoon, he ended his life.
