The Public Appointments Committee (Pac) of Parliament has summoned Blantyre Water Board (BWB) officials to appear before it today.
Pac says it will question the officials on issues pertaining to governance, executive management changes and administrative decisions at the board.
BWB has recently been in the news over disagreements between management and the board of directors.
Pac Chairperson Felix Njawala said that they would like to understand all issues that have marred activities at the parastatal lately.
“There have been issues between the board and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), issues which affected operations. And, also, some employees at the institution petitioned us and we are also responding to the calls,” he said.
BWB operations have lately been marred by the disagreements between the former CEO Yeremia Chihana and the board.
In February this year, BWB sent on forced leave director of finance Paul Chiumia, director of technical services Mavuto Chiipanthenga, director of distribution and commerce Verson Julian Kafodya, director of human resource and administration Mercy Phiri and procurement and disposal of assets manager Andrew Puleni to pave the way for an independent forensic audit.
