Nintendo Switch 2 owners may soon have an easier way to play on a television without carrying the original dock. Hidisc’s new USB-C-to-HDMI cable supports 4K at 60 Hz and up to 85 W charging. However, a compatible power adapter is still required.
Japanese accessories brand Hidisc has introduced a USB-C-to-HDMI cable that promises to connect the Nintendo Switch 2 directly to a television without requiring its original dock. The new accessory also supports simultaneous charging, potentially making it useful for gamers who frequently travel with their consoles.
The Type-C HDMI Mirroring Cable, supports resolutions up to 3840 × 2160 pixels at 60 Hz. An additional USB-C port near the HDMI connector accepts power from a compatible USB Power Delivery charger, delivering up to 85 W to the connected device. The cable accepts up to 100 W of input power, although the power adapter must be purchased separately. At two meters long and approximately 80 grams, it is considerably easier to pack than a conventional docking station.
According to Hidisc, the accessory also works with the original Nintendo Switch and compatible smartphones, tablets, and laptops. Standard USB-C video devices require DisplayPort Alternate Mode support, while Switch consoles need a power adapter that meets their requirements.
No additional software or drivers are necessary, according to the manufacturer. However, its Switch 2 compatibility claims have not yet been independently tested. The advertised 4K/60 Hz capability is also a maximum output specification, not a guarantee that every connected device or game will run at that resolution and frame rate.
The cable is scheduled for release in Japan during October 2026 through Amazon, Rakuten, and selected retailers. The price is ¥1,980 (12,51 USD). It might not replace a full docking station for everyone, but it could make playing on a hotel television considerably less complicated.
