BENTONG: A viral video showing a fight involving students and adults outside a school here depicts an incident in June that police have classified as no further action (NFA).
Acting Bentong police chief Deputy Superintendent Azmi Mahmod said the 31-second video resurfaced on Facebook yesterday.
"The incident occurred on June 16 after the victim's father lodged a police report alleging that his son had been assaulted and threatened by two youths in front of a school.
"Police arrested two boys, aged 15 and 16, on the same day. They were remanded for two days before being released on police bail on June 18," he said in a statement today.
Azmi said the suspects were investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and Section 506 for criminal intimidation.
He said the investigation papers were resubmitted to the deputy public prosecutor on July 15, after which the case was classified as NFA following consideration of developments in the investigation, including the complainant's decision to withdraw the report and not pursue the case.
"Police conducted the investigation transparently, in accordance with established procedures and applicable laws. We take incidents involving the safety and welfare of school students seriously.
"We urge the public not to spread unverified information or make statements about the video that could cause confusion," he said.
